Christina will be returning to the stage at the 2017 American Music Awards to perform a tribute to Whitney Houston‘s The Bodyguard for the movie’s upcoming 25th anniversary.

The tribute will feature memorable tracks from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album, and Christina‘s performance will be introduced by Viola Davis.

“Whitney herself stated in 2001 that Christina Aguilera sang the best version of her song ‘Run To You,’” the estate of Whitney E. Houston said in a statement. “It is with great appreciation and honor that she is returning to participate on the American Music Awards for a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard. Whitney said that Christina is without a doubt one of the best voices she enjoyed in this generation of music. From the Estate of Whitney E. Houston, we thank you with great joy!”

“I am honored and humbled to be asked to participate in such a special tribute of a timeless soundtrack that has been a huge inspiration not only in my own personal life and career, but to countless aspiring singers – touching music lovers worldwide and influencing the history of music itself,” Christina added. “To be honoring THE one and only, Whitney Houston, is a blessing and I am grateful to celebrate the spirit of her songs and legend that lives on. I feel eternally fortunate to have personally met her on and off the stage. My deep appreciation for her kindness to me while coming up in the business – her graciousness, generosity, humanity and beauty – lived up to everything I could have hoped for in meeting my idol and will forever be cherished in my memory of her.”

The show will air live on November 19.

The Puerto Rican singer kicked off his “All In” Las Vegas residency show on April 5 at the Park Theater inside the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino and one of the songs of the setlist was Ricky’s 2001 “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely” ballad (an iconic hit featuring Christina Aguilera from his second English album “Sound Loaded”).

“Telepathy” Music Video

Posted By admin On 02.11.2016 » Add Comment (0)

Christina Aguilera just dropped her first solo music video in over four years.

The 35-year-old singer premiered a short clip for a condensed version of her latest single, “Telepathy,” online Sunday afternoon, which sees her sporting huge Moulin Rouge!-era hair, clad in knee-high boots, and belting the song’s lyrics as she lays atop a glittery pool table.

“I wanted to make a fun video for my fans since ‘Telepathy’ from The Get Down is #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart,” she wrote on Facebook. “Thanks to all the fans, radio and DJs loving the song! XoXtina.”

The Nile Rodgers-assisted track, filled with soaring strings, a lush wall of horns, funky drums, and Aguilera’s signature vocal riffs, is featured on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Netflix series The Get Down, which was released in August. Aguilera previously recorded a cover of “Lady Marmalade” with Pink, Lil Kim, and May for another Luhrmann project, the 2001 movie musical Moulin Rouge!, which stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

Though she hasn’t released a new album since 2012’s Lotus, “Telepathy” marks Aguilera’s second single released in 2016. In June, she debuted the ballad “Change,” of which proceeds from download sales were donated to the National Compassion Fund to benefit the victims of those who were killed in the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida.

She is currently working on Lotus’ follow-up, however, which is rumored to include collaborations with everyone from Rodgers and Pharrell Williams to Da Internz.

Watch the new video for “Telepathy” above. The Get Down is currently streaming on Netflix, and its accompanying soundtrack is available now on iTunes.
